Thanksgiving

I came across this poem while I was preparing a lesson for church and thought it very insightful... I hope you enjoy it!

Be Thankful
Author Unknown
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary, because it means you've made an effort.
It's easy to be thankful for the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can become your blessings.

While I am thankful for those things that aren't as tangible, I would like to list some of the things I am most thankful for this Thanksgiving season...

I am thankful for...

  • Gerald, that he loves me and I love him and we are able to share our lives together doing the things we both enjoy!

  • Caroline and her great intellect.

  • Jessica and her thoughtfulness.

  • Susanna and all the fun she brings to the family.

  • Jayden and his insightful prayers.

  • Andrew and his happiness.

  • Kevin (and all the service men and women) and the work they are doing to keep us free...(yes Kim, I am thankful for you too, those who serve our country coudn't do half as good as a job if their teeth hurt, now could they?

But of course, most important, I am thankful for my Father in Heaven for being able to sacrifice his Son, and for Jesus giving the ultimate sacrifice, that I can return to live with them someday dispite my very, very many imperfections I have in this life!
